BIOLOGY Minor
The science of biology focuses on the study of the natural world from the molecular and cellular level all the way to the entire biosphere. This inherently interdisciplinary minor incorporates basic concepts from physical and chemical sciences as well as mathematics, and is directly applicable to a variety of career paths, including but not limited to healthcare, exercise science, public health, psychology, and computer science. The biology minor is appropriate for any students looking to deepen their scientific background. Students will gain knowledge and skills including implementation of the scientific method, experimental design and data analysis, scientific writing, and applied mathematics.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the minor, students will be able to:
Demonstrate foundational knowledge in the core concepts of biology, which include evolution, information flow exchange and storage, structure and function, energy, and systems.
Demonstrate the ability to apply the process of science through the practices of observation, experimentation, and hypothesis testing.
Collect and/or evaluate scientific data using appropriate techniques, controls, and mathematical analysis methods.
Effectively communicate biological concepts (including written, oral, and/or visual forms).
At least six of the required credits for the minor must be taken at Curry College.
