BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BSBA)

The BSBA degree is designed to develop well-rounded professionals who possess a solid foundation in core business concepts, critical thinking abilities, ethical decision-making skills, effective communication practices, and the capacity to seamlessly transition into professional organizational settings. The major focus of the program is to train students that are ready to apply and integrate knowledge of various functional areas in business to solve complex business problems. They will be equipped to make responsible, principled and culturally responsive decisions that align with both organizational and societal values, in a global context. Core and major-specific courses will teach strong communication skills and the ability to tailor communication style to various audiences and contexts, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and impact. The program will prepare students for a successful transition from academia to the global workplace.

Accounting Major:

The BSBA with a major in accounting is designed to prepare students for advanced academic studies as well as for careers in public accounting and private industry. With a curriculum centered around the core fundamentals of accounting, including financial reporting and analysis, managerial accounting and cost management, tax accounting, auditing, and forensic analytics, graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for professional certification (e.g., Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant). The program provides its students with a strong foundation in accounting research, communication, and analytical skills; application of accounting principles through experiential learning opportunities; and an international emphasis to enable students to compete effectively in a competitive, global economy.

Finance Major:

The Finance major will provide a comprehensive and rigorous finance curriculum that enables graduates to develop a foundational understanding of financial theories and concepts, strong analytical and quantitative skills, and gain insight into the role of finance within the broader economic and business landscape. Coursework will emphasize core concepts like the time value of money, valuation, capital budgeting, risk management, financial markets, and financial institutions. Management Major:

The Management Major will provide a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum that prepares students to lead, manage, and innovate in any business environment, whether a diverse, global organization or a new venture.  Coursework will emphasize core concepts such as leadership and management theories and applications, team-building strategies, effective communication techniques, and analytical techniques to solve managerial problems. The degree will ultimately prepare professionals who are critical thinkers, interdisciplinary in their approach, and capable of effectively managing and performing in various positions supporting various industries and markets. Students majoring in management must complete at least one track.

Entrepreneurship Major:

The Entrepreneurship Major prepares students to plan and execute a robust entrepreneurial strategy as a startup founder or small business owner and develop an "intrapreneurial" mindset within an existing enterprise.  The major fosters an entrepreneurial mindset and provides a “toolbox” of theories, techniques, and applications that allow students to critically evaluate the environment, identify problems worth solving, and execute their vision from the stages of ideation to hypergrowth.  Students majoring in entrepreneurship must complete at least one minor.      

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Develop the critical, creative and strategic thinking skills required to lead an entrepreneurial venture through its different phases, from ideation to hypergrowth

  2. Create comprehensive business plans that examine the financial, marketing, operational, legal, economic and technology landscape within which new ventures would thrive.

Marketing Major:

The Marketing Major will provide the students the education, skills, and experience necessary to obtain employment in the diverse field of marketing. Positions may include: Marketing Managers, Marketing Research Analysts, Merchandisers, Sales or Sales Management, and more currently developing positions in Digital Marketing or Brand Development. The field of Marketing has been and will continue to evolve over the next 10 years. This program offers courses in Marketing Analytics, Consumer Behavior, and Digital Marketing to address the new and respects the traditional with courses such as Principles of Marketing and Sales courses. It ultimately will prepare professionals who are critical thinkers, interdisciplinary in their approach, and capable of effectively managing and performing in many different positions supporting various industries and markets. The Marketing curriculum will provide both skill-based and theoretical framework in business management with an applied practice to specific marketing areas.

It ultimately will prepare professionals who are critical thinkers, interdisciplinary in their approach, and capable of effectively managing and marketing sport and recreation enterprises in vastly different markets. The Sport and Recreation Management curriculum will provide both skill-based and theoretical framework in business management with an applied practice to sport and recreation management.
