Overview
Description
This course introduces students to health assessment and the role of the nurse. The goal is to acquaint students with the skills and techniques necessary to accurately collect data in order to promote, maintain, or restore health. Emphasis is placed on normal findings across developmental levels with common deviations highlighted. The impact of the environment, life choices, and genetics and genomics on health will be explored. The student will engage in structured learning activities and supervised practice in the laboratory to develop a beginning competence with health assessment. Accountability for results will be emphasized. This course meets the wellness requirement. Fee.Prerequisites: BIOL 1075, BIOL 1175, BIOL 1085, BIOL 1185, CHEM 1001 and CHEM 1002.Corequisites: NSG 2012, NSG 2014 and NSG 2200.
