Description
Serving as a final capstone assessment instrument, studentsassume the role of a criminal justice leader to examine employeemotivation, organizational and community culture, groupdynamics, interpersonal and public communication, and howthe ethics of management and labor impact the effectiveness ofproblem-solving and innovation. Basic intervention strategiesfor negotiating and resolving disputes and conflicts in criminaljustice settings are reviewed with an eye toward innovative andethical approaches. This course integrates the curriculum withthe capstone project. Working with a faculty mentor, studentsare required to work as a team to address a real-world issue facinga criminal justice or community agency. Students worktogether to develop a comprehensive, innovative, ethical, andevidence-based approach to address this issue. Studentsapproved for the thesis option are not required to completeMCJ 7000.
