Description

Explores the importance of ethics in the criminal justice system, focusing particularly on the role of ethics in policing as it relates to the tension between personal ethics, cultural norms, social expectations, and the law. This course will examine ethics around the use of deadly and non-deadly force, particularly when professional ethics, agency culture, and societal norms clash. Noble cause corruption will be explored. Ethics within the broader justice system, including the District Attorney's office and correctional facilities, will also be explored. Prerequisite: CJ 1000.
